The Blueprint Builder is the foundational authoring engine in Audiment. Accessible to Organization Admins, it enables operations heads to translate operational standards, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and hygiene checklists into structured digital inspection blueprints.

Core Question Properties
Each question in a blueprint can be configured with specific attributes that dictate how field auditors answer and how scores are calculated:
1. Question Text
Clear, concise instructions specifying what standard is being evaluated. Keep questions objective and unambiguous (e.g., "Are raw meats stored separately from ready-to-eat items?" rather than "Is the kitchen clean?").
2. Response Types
- Yes / No: Binary evaluation. A "Yes" represents full compliance (1.0), while "No" represents total failure (0.0).
- Rating Scale (1 to 10): Numeric evaluation for graduated assessment (e.g., staff uniform cleanliness, customer area ambiance, food presentation). Scores are normalized linearly.
3. Severity Weighting
Audiment weights questions based on real-world operational risk:
| Severity Level | Mathematical Weight | Failure Consequence |
|---|---|---|
| Low | 1x | Minor aesthetic or administrative deficiency. Reduces overall score slightly. |
| Medium | 2x | Operational drift that requires attention. Moderate score impact. |
| Critical | 5x | Severe breach. A failure immediately triggers an automated 48-hour Corrective Action (CAPA) ticket and overrides the audit grade. |
4. Mandatory Photo Proof (requiresPhoto)
When toggled on, the auditor's mobile interface physically blocks progression until at least one photo is captured through the in-app camera or uploaded. This is recommended for:
- Food contact surface sanitation
- Temperature display gauges
- Fire exit clearance
- Pest control traps and logbooks
1-Click FSSAI Food Safety Defaults
For food service, restaurant, and cloud kitchen operators in India, Audiment includes pre-built FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) compliance standards.
Clicking Load FSSAI Defaults in the builder automatically populates an exhaustive standard checklist adhering to statutory Schedule 4 requirements, covering:
- Location and Surroundings: Clean surroundings, drainage, distance from contamination sources.
- Layout and Design: Pest exclusion, cross-contamination barriers, non-absorbent surfaces.
- Equipment and Utensils: Food-grade contact surfaces, calibration, temperature monitoring.
- Personal Hygiene: Clean chef coats, hairnets, medical fitness records, handwashing stations.
- Water Quality & Waste: Potable water testing certifications, segregated waste bins with lids.
Best Practices for Authoring Blueprints
- Keep Checklists Focused: A field inspection should rarely exceed 35–45 questions to prevent auditor fatigue and rushed answers.
- Prioritize Critical Failure Points: Limit Critical severity to true deal-breakers (e.g., cross-contamination, expired permits, severe pest sightings). Marking every question as Critical dilutes manager urgency.
- Use Logical Grouping: Order questions in the natural physical path an auditor walks through the facility (Receiving Bay → Dry Storage → Walk-in Coolers → Prep Line → Cooking Line → Service Counter).
