Flash Verification (Flashmob)

How covert, 20-second video sweeps eliminate inspection fraud and provide unedited ground-truth views of branch premises.

Flash Verification (known internally as Flashmob) is Audiment's covert, rapid video-based presence verification engine. It was developed specifically to solve the hardest problem in multi-location audit integrity: how to verify what an outlet actually looks like right now, without warning.

Why Standard Checklists Aren't Always Enough

Standard scheduled checklists give branch managers advance warning. While scheduled audits are essential for routine compliance, they suffer from the "inspection effect":

  • Staff clean up 30 minutes before the scheduled audit time.
  • Temporary fixes hide systemic operational violations.
  • Once the auditor leaves, habits return to unmonitored drift.

Flash Verification breaks this cycle by dispatching unannounced, unedited video audit requests that take under 2 minutes to complete.

Step-by-Step Execution Flow

Step 1: Permission Gate & Location Selection

  • Flashmob capabilities are role-gated. Admins grant permission individually to trusted auditors via the User Management panel (isFlashmobEnabled = true).
  • The Admin selects a target location and dispatches a time-sensitive flash request.

Step 2: 20-Second Surroundings Sweep

  • Upon opening the request on their mobile phone, the auditor steps onto the floor and initiates the recording.
  • The interface opens a continuous 20-second video stream with a live recording counter (REC 00:20).
  • The auditor performs an unedited 360-degree pan of the dining room, kitchen line, service counter, or back-of-house storage.

Step 3: Face Guide & Circular Selfie Verification

  • Immediately after the 20-second sweep finishes, the camera prompts the auditor to switch to the front camera.
  • A circular viewfinder overlay requires the auditor to align their face within the target guide, ensuring that the person capturing the video is the authorized inspector.

Step 4: Encrypted Direct Streaming & GPS Binding

  • The completed video clip and selfie are bundled with high-accuracy GPS coordinates and transmitted directly to encrypted cloud storage.
  • Video files are processed for instant streaming playback on the Admin executive dashboard.

Typical Use Cases for Flashmob Audits

  1. Peak Rush Hour Audits: See kitchen line order, hygiene, and cleanliness during Friday night dinner peak without disrupting service.
  2. Franchise Brand Compliance: Verify menu board signage, uniforms, and marketing posters across franchise networks without sending formal warning.
  3. Pest & Cleanliness Spot Checks: Inspect dumpster pads, grease trap corners, and dry storage areas during closing shifts.
  4. Immediate Incident Verification: If a customer complaint or safety report is filed, dispatch an auditor within the hour to capture unvarnished proof.
